I too got a “cold shoulder” when I called Norwalk for some technical advice on my 235. If they treat other owners of other models like I was treated when I asked some simple questions about the motor and hydraulic mechanism, well, lets say they certainly have some room for improvement.

what do you need to know about the motor? Ive seen westinghouse ,but mainly GE

Avatar wilsonbh 29 posts

It wasn’t so much a question about the motor as it was a question about the mechanism overall, particularly the hydraulic functions. I was having trouble with my 235 and needed some advice. When I first started experiencing the problems with the press, I contacted Norwalk to discuss it. Not knowing what was wrong or having any idea of what the problem might be, I tried to discuss it with the guy at Norwalk but he would not discuss it at all. Was somewhat rude actually. Kept telling me I needed to buy a new machine. I kept pressing him for information until the frustration welled up in me and I gave up. It was obvious during this call that they were interested only in sales, not any kind of technical support. That worries me as I was thinking about picking up a newer machine but if they won’t support it when it breaks down then I’m taking a big risk.

In my case, I believe that something simple is probably the problem here as the hardward looks to be solidly built. They definitely have made these things well.

the orings are the best things to change on any old model, there are 5 . models 240 and up are fully suported.

Do you know if there is any documentation anywhere on these o rings? I hate to start taking things apart without some written guidance.

Avatar jwnoah 73 posts

not yet but we are working on it, ive got a pdf on how to change from 110 volts to 220, and how to change a motor. itspretty basic 3 origs in the cap ,1 on the piston, and 1 at the bottom of the resivoir. i can get you the part numbers on monday if you want, the material of them is buna, the 270 and 275 are viton. every model norwalk uses the same 5 orings, even today.

TK, I find it fascinating that you don’t own a Norwalk, don’t juice, and yet have the Norwalk’s technical particulars, including all models from the 230 to the 275, at your fingertips. I’m really curious as to how you came by your expertise—do share!

Yes, but wouldn’t your information be somewhat more helpful (not to mention credible) if you actually owned and were personally familiar with one of the machines in question? It just seems a bit peculiar to me.

Dear Karen !

I am very familiar with all Norwalk juicers, also I am absolutely able to repair them. I have made by myself all parts inventory and drawings because I am working and trying to change the principle of trituration and hydraulic pressing in a different ,much different way. Norwalk juicer is a good machine but remains an old simple toy. It doesn`t matter 230,240, 265 or 275….........inside they all are 99.9 % the same from a constructive point of view. This is all I can say in this forum….............

Is this info good enough to trust ?

Uh…I think the jury’s still out on that one.

Did you ever get that PDF put together to explain how to replace these O-Rings and maybe the spring? My 235 works great sometimes, but then other times it will not press until maybe 5 minutes of waiting.

Avatar jwnoah 73 posts
