How often or how many hours of use would the Norwalk 275 need to be tuned up at? And, is the warranty still good if you tune it up yourself? Is it easy to get into the juicer to perform a tuneup?

I do not think that it is a regular requirement to tune up or replace worn parts on most of the recent Norwalks. I sometimes replace a belt or work on the hydraulics but it is a rare event for the juicers which I use regularly. It is not like a car. Yes, I have friends who bring in their machines occasionally with problems but these are usually due to lack of use or lack of cleaning misuse or some mishap in transporting or dropping the unit. The best regular service I have found is cleaning the juicer well (don’t use a green scrubby on the stainless exterior). And use it regularly. John maybe you have a better appreciation from what comes into your shop how often these juicers need to be serviced.

the way i see it if it aint broke dont fix it.Some people get a spare belt or switch just in case.there is nothing to grease or oil, except for a little olive oil on the cutter shaft.

I have a question for both Paul and John: if a machine is being worked hard in a commercial setting, how often do you think it will require a tune-up and how often will the cutter need to be sharpened?

If its truely a commercialy used ,one should have an extra cutter to use while one is being sharpened, a sharp cutter is just easier on the machine, The weakest link in any machine, in my opinion is the belt.extras on hand will save a lot of frustration. There is no way to answer how long it will be before service is needed. Keeping it clean and not forcing things thru the tube is best.

its all about the o rings shrinking.if he has good luck with it great. Im sure there is other oil out there that will work, 20 and 30 weight are oem and a sure bet.

Perhaps the specifics of fluid type/weight aren’t always so important except, say, if one happens to be trying to sell used Norwalks and is swapping out the original pumps for different ones…f’rinstance, the Haldex High Pressure Hydraulic Gear Pump .065 Cu. In., Model# 1002962?
