I LOVE my Norwalk juicer and now that my health is deteriorating again, I want to ship it from the U.S. (Michigan) to Jamaica where I now live but I’m having a problem finding affordable shippers. Norwalk was not much help other than to suggest UPS but UPS will not ship “personal effects” to Jamaica being that it is a “used” juicer. Also any additional info about how to “drain the hydraulic fluid”, packing etc. would be greatly appreciated! (I have combed through the posts and noted the info about foam blocks taped to the unit, disassmbling, double boxing and banding. I have the original packaging but it is 10 years old so I would need to double box it if I can find a box that big or even a wooden box but all that sounds VERY expensive) Thanks in advance! |

Are you the original owner? and did you ask norwalk if you sent it in for service would they ship it back to jamaica, im sure its not cheap to send it there though. |

I am the original owner. I never thought about sending it to Norwalk first for servicing, although when I called he guessed it might cost $1,000 to send it to Jamaica. I found someone that would ship it for almost $600 but I would still have to add packing materials so it’s beginning to look cost prohibitive. I may have to just buy a separate press that will fit in my suitcase and use the other juicer I have down there as the grinder (I still love my Norwalk tho :(!) |

Couldn’t you pack it and put it on the same plane you’re taking down there (obviously, not as carry-on!)? I can’t imagine that it would cost $1000 to travel as excess baggage and you could take it to and from the airport on a luggage carrier (that’s how I wheeled mine home when I bought it). I realize it’s not as convenient as having it shipped but if it were cheaper…hey, have you thought of shipping by boat? It would take a LOT longer but the savings might make it a worthwhile consideration. John, do you know how Harold used to transport juicers to shows he was doing? Did he take them on the plane or ship them ahead with UPS? |

I’m looking into taking it on the plane as baggage too. Finding a suitcase big enough is a challenge and there are baggage size/weight restrictions to where I’m going at the moment. The Norwalk base is 50 pounds and I need to keep the total weight under 70 pounds. I did find some sheet foam insulation at Home Depot that I think will work for packing around it along with tape so I hope that will work. Bringing it in a box is a red flag for spending 3 hours in customs and a hefty customs charge too. There is no easy solution which is why I appreciate your suggestions! |

I think the base weight is more than 50 lbs. but perhaps you can keep under 70 lbs. Let us know how it works out for you and good luck. |
