Strainer for fine vege juice ??
|

Ok, with Norwalk, straining juice is likely of no concern. I use an Omega 8002 which leaves remaining pulp about 15%-20% wet; not ideal i agree, and loss of output. So be it. So, I spend a 2-3 minutes to strain repetitevely to make the output totally clean. I’ve been using a fine (plastic) coffee filter. Q: Is there anything finer, for a screen, preferably in metal ?? >> Does anyone have a purchasing source or link ?? Thanks in advance |

You could get a Chinois…...but not certain if the mesh is smaller than what you have |

Why not just get a nylon bag like the kind used for nut milks? They’re not only very fine but you can squeeze the pulp as well for a better yield and more nutrients. They’re pretty easy to clean, too, much more so than cloth bags. There’s a lady on eBay who sells nylon bags quite inexpensively, $2+change, minimum two bags. If you do a search for “nut milk,” you’ll find her. I just ordered some because making grape juice with my Norwalk is too time-consuming. The method is to put a fine strainer over a large measuring cup under the feed chute rather than using a bag; the puréed grapes are stirred so that most of the juice is strained into the cup, after which the pulp is pressed in cloths. TOO MUCH WORK! Just put a nylon bag (they’re very capacious) in the cup and then gently squeeze what’s in there. I then put the pulp in cloths (be sure to use a coffee filter as well) and press them (there’s not much juice to be had, though). |
