Topic: Trouble Shooting and Repair / Parts for a 240?

Does anyone here know where I might be able to get a hold of a motor & o-rings for a 240s model?

Norwalk wants me to send it in for professional repair, but my husband wants to do it himself. Our juicer was in a flood, and in need of a motor.

Topic: Trouble Shooting and Repair / It takes a licking and keeps on ticking!

So I went to my local home warehouse and brought them pictures….turns out I don’t need to “tap” anything. Apparently I described my issue inaccurately here. I did not strip the screws themselves…I stripped the screwheads (or “rounded the corners” was another phrase they used). What they recommended for me was some “PB Blaster” to loosen the rusted screws and some tool called a “Pro Grabit” to extract the screws that already have the rounded corners on the screwheads. I haven’t had a chance to using either of those just yet, but when I do, I will keep you posted. Thanks much for your help!

Topic: Talk about Juicing / Model 202 Juicer

I was recently given a Norwalk Juicer, Model 202 that has been used to grind horse radish. I intend to use it for the same purpose but was wondering if anyone had a link to a users manual and an exploded diagram of the broken down juicer?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks – Bohica

Thanks jwnoah. I am unfamiliar with “tappping”. Is that something that my local home warehouse can help me with?

I would drill the screws out ive already stripped with a no. 28 drill bit,re tap them with a 8/32 tap then replace them with stainless steel screws. The other ones i would tap a no. 2 screw tip into the screw and give them a whack with a hammer then try to unscerw them.

Topic: Trouble Shooting and Repair / It takes a licking and keeps on ticking!

Hello all,

I am hoping someone has some good ideas for me. After much research and some patience, I purchased a Norwalk 265 from Craigslit. Given that the 265 models are around 20 years old, I was prepared for it to be well-used, and I assumed that I was going to need to do cleanup on it before I could use it. In preparation for this, I luckily found this forum and read as many of the back posts pertaining to maintenance and repair as I could find. All in all, I thought I would be pretty well prepared to tune-up my juicer when it got to me.

But I was wrong. There is no way I could be prepared for what I saw when I pulled the juicer out of the box. Dirt! Yes, actual dirt—POURING from the holes in the back! I turned it on its side and more handfulls of dirt and small gravel poured out! What?!! Had it been buried in a field?!! It was really unbelievable that in all of our communications, the seller completely failed to mention this. Seeing this, I mentally prepared myself for the worst: surely the unit would not work. But lo and behold, it did! And what’s more, the motor purrs like a kitten! Amazing! The press works too, but my boyfriend told me that I might damage the motor if there was insufficient hydraulic fluid in it, so I stopped using the press after a couple seconds. What a testament to the quality construction of a Norwalk!

Anyway, this is where I could use the help of the community. Clearly I need to open it up and clean it up and tune it up. However, I can’t get the housing off because several of the screws are rusted a bit and won’t budge. Trying to muscle them off just caused a couple of them to begin to strip, so I stopped trying.

So my questions are these:

1) Has anyone else experienced screws that are rusting and difficult to get off? Any suggestions of what I can do (mechanically? chemically?, something else?) to remove them without causing damage to the juicer?

2) For the screws that have already started to strip—has anyone experienced that? What can I do to remove stripped screws without damaging the housing? Can I get replacment screws at any hardware store?

Any help the community can give would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Callie

Topic: Trouble Shooting and Repair / Drain hydraulic fluid?

Hi M., I do not think that there is a need to drain it before shipping, but to be safe call Norwalk Juicers in Arkansas. I do not think that the oranf coloured stuff is hydraulic oil more likely it is carrot juice which has overflowed above and seeped down through the cover and around the hydraulic chamber at the bottom of the press. There is an easy way to drain off the oil but first give Norwalk a call. Let me know what they say…paul

I think the base weight is more than 50 lbs. but perhaps you can keep under 70 lbs. Let us know how it works out for you and good luck.

I’m looking into taking it on the plane as baggage too. Finding a suitcase big enough is a challenge and there are baggage size/weight restrictions to where I’m going at the moment. The Norwalk base is 50 pounds and I need to keep the total weight under 70 pounds. I did find some sheet foam insulation at Home Depot that I think will work for packing around it along with tape so I hope that will work. Bringing it in a box is a red flag for spending 3 hours in customs and a hefty customs charge too. There is no easy solution which is why I appreciate your suggestions!

Topic: Trouble Shooting and Repair / Drain hydraulic fluid?

I have a Norwalk 270 (the box says 270P – is about 10 years old) and I want to ship it internationally. Do I need to drain the hydraulic fluid?

(I recently took off the covers and noticed there was a couple inches of some old dried out orange-brown stuff near the bottom of the press. It’s too dried out to be be oily and almost looks like the color of old carrot juice.) I did a search on this forum but I didn’t find anything that says how to drain it properly. I don’t know if just taking off the bolts and turning it over is the way to do it?

Thanks for any insight!

That’s certainly possible; as I understand it, eBay isn’t too happy with sellers they can’t trust. I guess we’ll just have to see if it (“NEW” “Used only ONCE”) gets listed again.

Topic: Talk about Juicing / Norwalk 250

Hi Karen going one step further, imagine this, a person puts Norwalks on eBay then when he receives bids, contacts the bidders offering to sell them the juicer under the table so he doesn’t have to pay the fee to eBay, then ends the auction. If that were to happen, that action would probably be of interest to eBay.

Weird. There were only seven shown in the photograph. And imagine: it’s no longer listed. And with bids on it, too. Huh. I guess that seller really took your correction to heart. Ah, well. He must’ve been too arithmetically challenged to count to eight.

“Matter?” Of course these things matter. That’s how one develops trust—through accuracy. And truth. That seller must have really trusted you. :)

I just saw a 275 model Norwalk juicer for sale on eBay (“NEW” “Used only ONCE”) with only seven grids instead of eight. Can you imagine? Gosh, I wonder what the seller did with the other one?

Perhaps the specifics of fluid type/weight aren’t always so important except, say, if one happens to be trying to sell used Norwalks and is swapping out the original pumps for different ones…f’rinstance, the Haldex High Pressure Hydraulic Gear Pump .065 Cu. In., Model# 1002962?

It takes special equipment and it involves “bumping and grinding” and squeezing rather than pressing.
